Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition which symptoms include: widespread pain, fatigue, sleep problems, and other symptoms. It is estimated that 5-7% of the US population has fibromyalgia. It occurs more frequently in females than males (it is found in all races, as well as children).
Diagnosis:
There are no laboratory tests available. To receive a diagnosis of FM the following criteria need to be met:
- Widespread pain in four quadrants of the body with a minimum duration of 3 months.
- Tenderness or pain in at least 11 of 18 specified tender points.
