Ventilator
At HealthSouth Regional Specialty Hospital, we offer the clinical, technical, and professional resources necessary to provide individualized treatment to our ventilator patient, which promotes progress towards recovery. Patients receive 24-hour care from registered nurses and respiratory therapists, that are ACLS certified and critical care trained. Patients are seen by their attending physician a minimum of five days a week and consultants as needed. This dedication to clinical excellence and patient outcomes has allowed us to achieve a 75% ventilator wean rate.
Goals
- To wean/decannulate patients as clinically indicated
- To stabilize medical condition and increase patient activity to progress them to the next level of care
- To introduce physical, occupational, speech therapy when medically appropriate
- To increase patient and caregiver knowledge and the ability to manage pulmonary disorders
- To manage physiological and psychological disability
- To provide education for home ventilator, tracheotomy, and other respiratory therapy modalities to patient, family and caregivers.
Clinical Team
Our interdisciplinary team of medical professionals provides a comprehensive evaluation and then formulates a dynamic, goal-oriented plan tailored to the patient's needs and abilities. Members of the team include registered respiratory therapists, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, speech/language pathologists, psychologists, board-certified Pulmonologists, case managers and registered dieticians.
